From Heywood to Odsal!

After numerous coaching session lead by Aidan Gleeson and organised by the Bolton, Bury and Rochdale Rugby League Development Group at St Luke’s Primary School, Heywood, 3 boys were inspired enough and asked to join a community team.

After showing enthusiasm and a willingness to learn at the school sessions they were pointed in the direction of Anthony Bamford’s Mayfield Mustangs under 11s team, who where more than grateful for the additions.

Mr Bamford said: “All new players are an added bonus but to have these come as beginners and progress and develop so quickly is a real bonus and we are very thankful to Aidan for these additions.”

The boys have developed their skills from tag rugby league in a school setting into full contact at a community club level. After just a couple of training sessions they played their first ever game of Rugby League at the Super League ground Odsal, home of the Bradford Bulls, in a half time curtain raiser against Eccles.
