Cricket enthusiasts catch of glimpse of championship trophy

Date published: 13 March 2012

Young cricket enthusiasts descended on Milnrow Cricket Club on Monday night to catch a glimpse of the County Championship Trophy.

The trophy, won by Lancashire Cricket Club in 2011, for the first time since 1934, was on display at the club – and cricket fans could have their photo taken with it alongside cricketing star Stephen Parry.

After the youngsters had had their photographs taken they engaged in a question and answer session with Parry.

Also in attendance was John Abrahams, a former Lancashire captain and now coach of the England under-19s.

The event was organised by the Milnrow Cricket Club Committee and it coincided with the club’s signing on session.

Over 60 youngsters signed on to play at the club in the under 9s, 11s, 13s, 15s and 18s teams.
