Rochdale Mayfield Amateur Rugby League has re-launched its girls section after an absence of three years.
The club currently has three girls signed up and is on the look out for any more who want to get involved.
The girls’ game involves a fortnightly festival which will see the girls come together to form teams to play in games of 13-a-side.
Wayne Hartley, Mayfield Girls Manager, said: "We had a good crop of girls playing here at the club a few years ago however they drifted off for various reasons and it was sad to see that happen as we had developed a good squad, but now we have learnt from our mistakes and have set up this time with more of a structured approach to it before we even decided to run it again to ensure its success."
Under 14s player Rebecca Hartley said: " I was here a few years ago and enjoyed playing the game as it keeps you fit and when you play in festivals you meet all sorts of different people from other clubs.
“I asked the club if I could come back and play and they have put a lot of work into making it happen again. I would urge any girl who wants to try the game of Rugby league out to come along and give it a go."
The club are holding an open session for girls from ages 8-15 to come along and try out the game on Monday 13 February from 11.00am to 1.00pm.
