Rochdale Premier Indoor Cricket League round up

The competition is getting hot at the top of the league table. Peshawar Panthers are leading the league with 12 points, in second position are Rochdalians with 10 points and King Lions with 10 points. Three teams, DLCC, Max XI, and Unique, are on 8 points at third place.

This week the first two matches of the league were between Bury Panthers and Rochdalians in Hall 1 and King Lions vs DGS in Hall 2. Rochdalians batted first and made 109 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Imran Chaudhery 24 runs and Hameed 17 runs. In response Bury Panthers could only score 100 runs and lost the match by 9 runs. Good bowling from Irfan taking 2 wickets for 18 runs and Hameed taking 1 wicket for 15 runs.

In the other match King Lions batted first and scored 135 runs. Excellent batting from Shahid Baba 32 runs (not out) and Tariq Mahmood 21 runs. Not very good response from DGS as they managed to score 83 runs lost the match by 52 runs. Good batting effort from Mohammed Umar 23 runs (Not out) and Zeshan Ahmed 15 runs. Good bowling from Tayab taking 3 wickets for 3 runs and Mohamed Sohail 2 wickets for 5 runs.

The next two matches were between DLCC and Max XI and 8 Lions vs Unique. DLCC won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 85 runs. Good batting from Bukhari 21 runs and Tayab 15 runs. Very good response from Max XI won the match by 5 wickets and 2 overs remaining. Excellent batting from Adeel 35 runs (not out) and Dustaghir 21 runs (not out). Excellent bowling from Mohamed Bari taking 2 wickets for 5 runs and Mohamed Adeel 2 wickets for 22 runs.

In the second match 8 Lions batted first and scored 117 runs. Good batting from Hafeez 21 runs and Habib 21 runs. Good response from Unique wining the match by 6 wickets and 1 over to spare. Excellent batting by Afreedi 30 runs and Muazam 27 runs. Good bowling effort from Hamza taking 2 wickets for 15 runs.

A bye and 2 points awarded to Peshawar Panthers this week.

Again it was a very entertaining day for the spectators and the teams. All the matches were played in good sprit. Big thanks from organisers Abdul Quyyom, Tayyab and M Siddique who appreciated all the help given by volunteers.
