Mayfield preview

Date published: 17 December 2011

After the disappointment of last week’s postponed game Mayfield are hoping the weather stays favourable this weekend as they prepare to travel to Wigan to play Ashton Bears.

In this rearranged league Mayfield NWC play all teams in their division four times, the last time they were at Ashton’s ground they were on the wrong end of the result after turning out an under strength side.

Coaches Joe Harte and Simon Howe are hoping there will be no repeat today especially after the last couple performances.

The results have not been forthcoming but the way the team has played has been very encouraging with some great rugby being played especially by the young lads.

Most of the team have been taking advantage of the training being offered at the minute from the new coaching team of Butterworth and Calland.

Hopefully this will pay dividends on the pitch with more structure and attention being given to set plays and moves.

Once again there will be a blend of youth and experience on the field with players ranging from sixteen to fifty years old, but, whatever their age one thing is for sure they will all give 100% players meet at club 12.15.

Fixtures:
NWC Div 4; Ashton Bears v Mayfield Kick off 2.00pm
