Town team announced

The Rochdale Town Team squad - that will take on Hornets and Fiji UK - has been announced.

The squad has many new faces, as players have been selected following the open training sessions at Kingsway Sports Centre.

Young guns Jake Boardman, Jason Rigby and Jack Ashworth will make the step up after impressing in performances for their clubs and Hopwood Hall College Rugby Academy. Boardman was captain of the Bolton, Bury and Rochdale u18s team at the RFL North West u18s carnival in September.

One notable inclusion is Mark Murgatroyd, who plays most of his rugby at Littleborough Rugby Union. During the summer months, 'Murgy' made the switch and impressed selectors while playing for Rochdale Cobras.

Alex West, Ben Duffy and Lee Moore have not been selected for the town team, as they are currently on trial with Rochdale Hornets

The game takes place on Wednesday 28 December.
