Rochdale Premier Indoor Cricket League round up

This week the first two matches of the league were between DGS and Bury Panthers in Hall 1 and DLCC and Peshawar Panthers in Hall 2. An easy win for Bury Panthers this week, DGS batted first and scored 74 runs off 8 overs. Good batting from Mohammed Sarfraz 20 runs. In response Bury Panthers won the match by 6 wickets. Good batting from Mohamed Hanif 22 runs and Jhangir 20 runs (not out). An excellent bowling from Mohamed Hanif taking 3 wickets for 4 runs and Adil Ahmed 2 for 24 runs.

In the other match Peshawar Panthers batted first and scored 115 runs. Good batting from Saif Khan 51 runs (not out) and Mohamed Saqib 16 runs. In response DLCC made 71 runs all out and lost the match by 45 runs. None of their batsmen made any significant contribution to the total. Good bowling from Waseem Qasim taking 2 wickets for 10 runs and Kamran Ali of DLCC taking 2 for 26 runs.

The next two matches were between King Lions and Unique and 8 Lions and Rochdalians. King Lions batted first and scored 116 runs. Good contribution from Qaiser Ahmed 27 runs and Mohamed Sohail 18 runs. In response Unique made 72 runs and lost the match by 44runs. Good batting effort from Mohamed Munawar 18 runs and Abrar Ali 14 runs. Good bowling performance from Mohammed Tariq taking 2 wickets for 16 runs and Amjad Hussain taking 2 wicket for 22 runs.

In the second match Rochdalians batted first and scored 143 runs. Excellent batting from Imran Khan 35 runs (not out) and Atif Riaz 31 runs (not out). In response 8 Lions could only socred 95 runs and lost the match by 48 runs. Good batting effort from Mohammed Saleem 16 runs and Habib Ahmed 13 runs. Excellent bowling from Faisal Ali of Rochdalians taking 2 wickets for 20 runs.

A bye and 2 points awarded to Max XI this week as 8 Worriers pulled out of the league.

Again it was a very entertaining day for the spectators and the teams. All the matches were played in good sprit. Big thank you from Abdul Quyyom, Tayyab and M Siddique (Organisers). They also appreciated all the help given by volunteers and in particular M. Tayyab, and Mohamed Saqib helping with umpiring and scoring duties.
