Rochdale Hornets working alongside the Co-op and Mencaphope to set a new Co-operative Championship 1 attendance record!
This Sunday (10 July) is the day Rochdale Hornets working alongside the Co-op and Mencap hope to set a new Co-operative Championship 1 attendance record!
With tickets at the bargain price of only £5 for adults and £3 for concessions it is hoped that all Rugby League supporters will get behind the game, especially as Mencap receive a donation from all ticket sales.
Promotion for the game has been increased in recent weeks with an extensive poster campaign in local Co-operative shops and stores, Co-op Travel Agents and the Co-operative Bank.
Social network sites facebook and Twitter have been used extensively along with the Hornets website and eNewsletters as well as a traditional Mail shot.
It is hoped that the promotion is rewarded with a bumper crowd and a healthy pay day for Mencap at the second ever Hornets Co-operative Day Event.
Rochdale Hornets are professional Rugby Leagues only fans owned and run co-operative and the game is a celebration of the co-operative values that Hornets share with a number of businesses across the UK and further afield and will bring to an end the country wide celebration of Co-op Fortnight.
Rochdale Hornets are proud to announce they have secured an Official Match Sponsor for the Game. The match will this year be sponsored by Supporters Direct, the umbrella organisation for supporters trusts in the UK and across Europe and Laura Harrison, Rugby League Development Manager said of the event: “Hornets are a fine example of how supporter ownership can work in rugby league and they’ve really embraced the co-operative values that all of our trusts share. It should be a great event.”
Hornets are also proud to announce that they have secured an Official Match Ball Sponsor for the game with local firmGeldard Electrical Supplies coming on-board.
Rochdale Hornets Chairman Mark Wynnsaid "We are all excited here at Hornets as we try and set a new crowd record for the competition, and we would like to thank all those who are supporting our efforts.
We urge all Rugby League Supporters and sports fans in general to get down to Spotland Stadium on Sunday 10 of July to help us set the crowd record."
Louise Spencer, Hornets CEO echoed Mark Wynn's message and said "Working alongside major organisations such as the Co-op and Mencap as well as attracting national organisations such as Supporters Direct and local firms like Geldard Electrical as sponsors we believe show how Hornets are now being held in high regard in the business world. We know that we still have a long way to go before we can match the sports major players but we know we are going along the right road to take the club where we want it to be.
"We also would like to thank the Rochdale Round Table who we have been speaking with this week about helping out at the game and we would also like to thank our opponents Workington Town and their supporters who we are sure will turn up in good numbers to make for a fantastic atmosphere."
