Matthew Moss girls conquer Europe
Girls’ football teams from Mathew Moss High School in Rochdale have taken part in a competition, in Barcelona, which saw the year ten team win and one of the players offered trials at Bolton Football Club Academy.
The teams, from year 7, 8 and ten competed with 15 other schools from across the country.
The year ten girls came out winners, not conceding any goals in the ten games they played. They scored an average of four goals per game.
Captain Courtney Bradburn was offered trials for the Bolton Academy.
The squad also took part in morning coaching sessions run by David Bailey and his team of coaches from Bolton Wanderers F.C.
Mr Bailey was very impressed with the standard of football set by the teams, he said the girls had taken the competition to a new level for girls football. He also invited the girls to a tour of the Reebok stadium.
The competition was tan by STI Sports and professional coaches from Bolton Wanderers football club.
The teams were sponsored with 15 footballs and 28 drinks bottles from Warburtons Ltd in Shaw.
