Hopwood Football Academy gets another win in the net

Date published: 14 June 2011

Hopwood Hall College’s Football Academy first team squad have just enjoyed another successful season, winning the ECFA North West league for a third year in a row.

As well as winning the North West league, the team has had good runs in both the league and ESFA cups.

A spokesperson for the College, said: “The boys have worked extremely hard in training and in games playing a brand of attractive, pass and move football supported by a solid defence, scoring the most goals in the league and conceding the fewest.

“All of the players in the Academy participate in a gruelling training programme, working on all aspects of the game such as fitness, technique and tactical awareness.”

The team is supported throughout the year by UEFA 'A' and 'B' license coaches and then provided with the opportunity to take the FA Level 1 Coaching Award when the season is over. Several of the College’s students are currently employed part-time, coaching in local schools after achieving the coaching award.
