Littleborough RL crowned Tag champs

Littleborough Rugby League Club has been crowned champions of the inaugural Rochdale Tag Rugby League Series Spring Season.
Played over the last 4 weeks, the Rochdale Tag RL Series has been a great success with double the number of teams and players taking part than originally expected.
With the success of the pilot Tag Series, the Rochdale Swarm alongside Rochdale Hornets development team and the Bury, Bolton and Rochdale Development group are working together to run a further 4 week Summer Season played at various venues across Rochdale.
Littleborough RL will be hoping to defend their title but the Rochdale Swarm and Littleborough Starmix who finished joint second will be both be hoping to move up a place and be crowned Summer Champions.
The first week of the Summer Season of the Rochdale Tag Rugby League Series takes place at Littleborough Sports Centre, Rakewood tonight (Wednesday 8 June). Home side Littleborough Lightning which is made up of players from Littleborough RU and Hillside Hawks Womens Rugby League team will also be hoping to take the title especially if they can get off to a good start on home soil.
A spokesperson said: “The Rochdale Tag Rugby League Series has proven to be the perfect vehicle to introduce new male and female players to Rugby League through this non-contact version of the game, as well as allowing older players to stay involved and regular players to keep fit in the off season.”
“New players and teams are invited to take part alongside teams who played in the Spring Season and interested parties should contact the Rochdale Swarm via email rochdaleswarm@hotmail.co.uk or should come down to Rakewood on tonight ready for a 7.00pm kick off.”
