Date published: 01 June 2011
Young windsurfers from across the region joined the first of this years’ RYA Team 15 inter club events Astbury Sailsports on Saturday (28 May), and windsurfing club Hollingworth Hunters ranked in third place.
The Rochdale club took part in many races, including the 5.5 metre race, where Luke Bolton came in second.
Molly Havell took the final race and pushed her team to the prestigious third place.
The day was said to be an exciting, breezy day with a lot of action and tough competition.
Overall, West Kirby Warriors brought their winning ways of the old season forward into the new one, while Team Astbury took second, with Hollingworth Hunters third and Windermere Rufwinds fourth.
The T15 inter-club championship takes place regionally over the summer adding a competitive edge and race training for those keen to hone their skills.
Supported by industry leaders Tushingham/Starboard, Boards magazine and Neil Pryde, T15 was set up by the RYA to help make windsurfing more accessible and appealing to youngsters at a grass roots level.
