Triumph for Rochdale swimmer

Date published: 17 May 2011

Rochdale Swimming Club’s wonder boy, Blake Wilson, 18, is the talk of the club after winning the open 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:11.30 at the SportAid Unison Open Meet held in Leeds.

In a strong field with swimmers from all across the country competing, Blake's swim was a cut above the rest and he finished well ahead of his nearest rival.

He then competed in the open 50m freestyle and bagged the bronze medal in a time of 25.23.

Head Coach Mark Lord said: "Blake is another talented swimmer to come from Rochdale Swimming Club and we have been working very hard to give Blake the most up to date training available.

“He has spent hours in the pool and in the gym following our training regime to improve his power and core strength.

“I'm sure we will see some more fantastic performances in 2011 from Blake and 2012 looks like a golden year."
