Bamford Fieldhouse Cricket Club
After a number of closely fought matches between these two sides in which Saddleworth have come out on top, Bamford pulled out a great team performance to win by 9 wickets.
Accurate bowling from Bamford’s opening pair, Ahmed Nawaz and Joe Smith-Butler saw the visitors restricted to 18 for 5 off the first 10 overs with Smith-Butler picking up 4 wickets for only 9 runs.
Joe Mitchell and Abbu Alam chipped in with a couple of wickets each and Saddleworth ended their innings on 56-9. Bamford’s ground fielding was excellent and a special mention must go to Danny Matthews who stopped two boundaries and took a catch for good measure. Bamford were unable to dismiss Ben Corbett and he ended with 29 not out.
Smith-Butler and Alex Willis got the Bamford innings off to a good start taking a number of singles off some good bowling from Boyle and Scott and they soon accelerated up to 5 per over . Smith-Butler went for 28 after skying a Collier-Hyde delivery to Scott and it was left to Willis (20) and Matthew Buckley (5) to see the home side through to a well deserved victory.
