Bamford-Fieldhouse u15s 215-4 - Moorside ‘B’ 41 all out (Away)

Date published: 03 May 2011

Bamford made it two wins out of two against a very young Moorside team on Bank Holiday Monday.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Joe Smith-Butler and Alex Willis got Bamford off to a flying start until Willis was bowled for 22 in the 6th over with the score on 50-1.

Matt Buckley carried on the good work and Smith-Butler retired on 52 with the score on 95-1. Abbu Alam then blasted a quick fire 50 off 18 balls, retiring with the score on 166. Buckley (32) was next to go when the keeper, Newton, took a very difficult catch off Timperley’s bowling.

Callum Belfield (26) then continued his good form with the bat before being unluckily bowled by a “two-bouncer” and the innings ended with a mammoth score of 215-4.
As the blustery conditions worsened, Moorside’s batsmen concentrated hard and at the end of the 6th over they had only lost one wicket, an LBW to Smith-Butler.

Willis then took a well deserved wicket when Joe Mitchell took a catch to remove Berry. In the next over, Olly Bonynge caught Wells off the bowling of Mitchell and from then on the wickets fell at regular intervals until the home side were finally dismissed for 41. Mitchell (3 for 7) and Garside (2 for 2) were the pick of the Bamford bowlers.

This was a big win for Bamford but congratulations should go to the home side who kept trying all the way to the end of the game.
