More teams tag along
Date published: 19 April 2011
Rochdale’s Rugby League teams displayed a “fantastic example” of teams coming together on Sunday (17 April 2011) morning.
The Hornets supporters’ team, The Rochdale Swarm, in-conjunction with the Hornets Community Team, organised a Tag Festival in preparation for the forthcoming International Mixed Tag Rugby League Festival.
What started off as a one off friendly game between the Swarm and the Littleborough/Hillside Hawks ended up being a six team festival. The teams involved were the The Hillside Hawks Womens Rugby League Team working with Littleborough RU club, The Rochdale Swarm, Huddersfield Giants Supporters, Littleborough Rugby League and Littleborough RL 16`s.
A spokesperson said: “The Festival introduced dozens to Tag Rugby League and showed the positive attitude that is prevailing within Rugby League in Rochdale.
“Sunday’s Festival was the first taster for many and the momentum will be continued with the introduction of the Rochdale Tag Rugby League Series which will see regular Wednesday night games played at various venues across the town.
“The Tag Series will be open to teams or individuals, experienced or beginners as the perfect way of playing Rugby League Socially.”
The Rochdale Tag Rugby League opens on Wednesday the 4 of May at the Littleborough Sports Centre, Rakewood with a 7.00pm start.
