Mayfield host cricket extravaganza

In a new venture Rochdale Mayfield play host to a cricketing extravaganza at the Mayfield sports centre today (Saturday 23 April 2011).

A Rochdale select side, comprising of members of the committee plus a couple of surprise guests will take on a Mayfield select side who will be made up of players from both the NCL and NWC rugby teams.

The game promises to be a fun filled event, with Rochdale select team manager Pete Duffy doing his utmost to make sure his team is at peak fitness this afternoon.

Mr Duffy said: “I am that confident of victory that if we lose I will personally buy the opposition a drink.”

Mayfield captain Steve Wood, isn’t fooled by his boasts though, he said: “I see nothing in Pete’s side to worry about we have the Australian connection and we all know Australia used to be a fair cricketing nation.”
