Rochdale Swarm pre-season training starts
Date published: 31 March 2011
The Rochdale Swarm pre-season training is now in full swing.
With their International Mixed Tag Rugby League Festival fast approaching everyone is working hard to shake off the off season cobwebs.
Monday (28 March 2011) evening saw the Swarm take on the Huddersfield Giants supporters side at Oulder Hill in a warm up game to the 2011 Tag Rugby League season.
In a very open game the Swarm went down to a 9 tries to 8 defeat, with the winning score being in the dying seconds.
All in all both sides were happy with their performances with a bit of ring rustiness on show.
The Swarm have a couple of more pre season games lined up, with a return game against the Huddersfield Giants and a local derby against the Littleborough Hillside Hawks.
Though the Swarm are just gearing up for the forthcoming season off the pitch the work has carried on at the usual pace.
The Rochdale Swarm International Mixed Tag Rugby League Festival set for 28 May is all set and even more teams entered, setting another record. The Swarm have secured several new sponsors and are finalising a grant application.
But perhaps the biggest news is that the Swarm are in discussions with Milnrow Cobras and Rochdale Cobras about the three clubs linking up to share and develop Firgrove.
The two Cobras clubs have already formalised their relationship with the Swarm completing the triangle.
Its an obvious fit with all three clubs often training, playing side by side and having shared coaching staff that they should all work together to develop a strong unified club, which gives everyone the chance to play Rugby League at whatever level.
