Hornets aim for RECORD crowd
Date published: 23 February 2011
Hornets work with Mencap & the Co-op in record bidJuly 10th 2011 could be a date for the record books as we aim to set a Championship attendance record.
Hornets in conjunction with competition sponsors The Co-operative and their Official 2011 Charity Mencap, we are making the Workington Town clash on July 10th a special Co-operative/Mencap Day.
As well as setting a competition record attendance, we aim to raise a sizable amount for Mencap in the process.
Tickets for the day are a donation of £5 (£4 goes to Mencap) for adults and £3 (£2 goes to Mencap) for concessions.
This is an ambitious project but all parties are determined to make the event a huge success.
In terms of ambition Spotland Stadium holds 10,000 people and that is the target we have set ourselves.
We are not doing this on our own, the Co-operative will be selling tickets, as will Mencap. We also hope the entire Rugby League community gets behind us on this, we are sure they will.
Tickets go on sale shortly. This is a real opportunity to put Hornets on the map, please get behind us on this.
A special thanks must go to Hornets Director Allen Brett whose idea the game is and thanks to Allens links in the Co-operative movement he has been able to turn this idea into reality.

Sunday Doncaster at Home
Our last game in the Northern Rail Cup for 2011 is this Sunday against our rivals from Doncaster.
Its vital we continue the recent good performances (but turn them into victorys) in preparation for the forthcoming Cup and League campaigns.
Sundays game also has the added edge of being one of Stankys former teams he has coached, so a win is a must.
Kick off 3 pm at Spotland Stadium.

The Festival which is now in its third year promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, even though it is already Europe's Largest Adult Rugby League Festival!!
The fun starts on the Friday Night for those teams who arrive early. We will be having a bit of Mixed Tag on the Friday Night before we have the Welcome BBQ and Party.
Saturday sees the main event which will see teams from across Europe and the UK including Kiwi and Aussie exile sides playing to be the Festival Champions. Last year current Super League and Championship players turned out in this non-contact version of the game.
Saturday night really has become the thing of legendStarting with the awards ceremony to start the evening. This year we will again be having a Live Band which proved to be such a hit last year. The party will no doubt go on into the early hours.
Last year the evening was brought to a close when ex-Saints star Willie Talau led the Kiwi contingent in a bear chested Haka (footage on the Facebook page).
Sunday for those still standing will see the International Tag Challenge.
A fantastic weekend all for just £100 per team. So for your money you get a camping pitch for the duration, all the entertainment and of course entry into the biggest Rugby League Festival in Europe.
Tag Rugby League is a non-contact version of the game. Played by 7-a-side Mixed teams of which 2 must be of the opposite sex. Minimum age is 16 up to 60.
The event is split into 2 comps, an experienced and novice sections, so as to cater for all standards of players.
