Mustangs to ride the storm on the big stage

Date published: 14 February 2011

This Sunday (20 February 2011) sees John Stankevitch take his Hornets team to the Halton Stadium to face off against Championship team Widnes Vikings.

Prior to the first team match, Mayfield Mustangs under 12's will be taking on Liverpool Storm under 12's in a curtain raiser on the main pitch to get the home and away supporters into competitive mood prior to the big kick off.

Chris Hilton's Mustangs are no strangers to the big stage, having previously played curtain raisers at the Willows. Mr Hilton, head coach of the Mustangs under 12's said: “We have been out of action for a while now with the mid season break/poor weather so we are looking forward to getting back into action. Liverpool Storm are a new team and a little bit of an unknown, so it should be an interesting game.”

The game has been organised by the Valhalla Foundation and the Bolton, Bury and Rochdale RL Development Group and it is hoped that Vikings and Hornets fans will get into the ground early to cheer on their local junior team.
