Hornets welcome new CEO

The Hornets have welcomed Louise Spencer as their new Chief Executive.
Ms Spencer joins the Hornets after being part of the senior management team at Burnley Football Club.

Heading up Burnley FC’s award winning Community Sports Trust Ms Spencer’s track record and experience is a perfect fit for Hornets as a Co-operative Club.

A message from Ms Spencer was posted in the club’s newsletter.

It reads: "As the new Chief Executive of Rochdale Hornets I join you at what I believe is an exciting time. I am really looking forward to working with the Members, Sponsors the Board and Staff to grow Rochdale Hornets and everything that they stand for within the Borough.
 
“Before I join the Hornets at the end of the month, I have been doing some 'background' reading on what the Club has achieved to date, where they have come from and what their aspirations are for the future and I hope that my previous experience will be able to guide the Hornets in achieving this.
 
“As a Club you have so much to be proud of; the road over the past few years has been at times tough, however, Mike Banks and the Board are proud to say that the Club is in a better position now and have worked in what they describe as minor miracles in a short space of time and turn the Club around. It is with this foundation that we now move to the next phase of developing the Club.
 
“The Staff and the Board members that I have met so far have been extremely welcoming and their passion for the Club is obvious to see and I look forward to joining the Club.
 
“So here's to the future of the Hornets both on and off the pitch!"

Chairman of the Rochdale Hornets Rugby Football League Club Society Limited, Mark Wynn, said: “Everyone at the club would like to welcome Louise to Hornets. After winning through against several exceptional candidates she certainly has the pedigree and track record to take Hornets on to the next level.

“In what some would see as a man’s world  Hornets have bucked the trend and appointed one of the few women CEOs not only in Rugby League but sports and commerce in general.

“Louise does join at an interesting time, with the season about to start, the recent link up with the towns community/amateur teams, our World Cup bid, the re-launch of the Buzzline Lottery along with several other big plans the club has already in the pipe line.
 
“I’m sure I speak for all Hornets members when I welcome Louise onboard.

“The board and staff are looking forward to working with her as the club enters a new phase.
