Here come the girls!

A delightful hat-trick is in store for Women and Girls Rugby League players as the New Year launches with a bang!

First up on Saturday 15 January, Joenie Aspin takes her Mayfield Mustang Girls into battle against North West and Yorkshire opposition at Mayfield Sports Centre, Castleton (10am start).

The festival will act as a warm up to the Rochdale Mayfield Vs Saddleworth North West Counties fixture (2pm KO) which, when coupled with the first team playing on Friday against local rivals Eccles (7.30ko), promises to be an action packed weekend at Mayfield Sports Centre.

Milnrow Cobras will then follow suit and host the North West festival on Saturday 29 January (10am) at Firgrove playing fields.

The Cobras have recently acquired use of the Firgrove Pavilion as club headquarters and through partnership working with the open age team Rochdale Cobras, have managed to secure two back to back in front of the pavilion, which will allow the club to host more festivals in the future.

Completing the hat-trick for January, Littleborough Hillside Ladies host Yorkshire side Copeland Wildcats. Hillside, recently buoyed by the recruitment of players Whatmough, Wynn and Porter from the 'Ruggercise' Touch Rugby Programme, will take on the wildcats on Sunday 16 January at Rakewood.
