Plenty of ins and outs at Rochdale

Date published: 07 January 2011

The merry-go-round of players continues at Rochdale AFC as strikers Anthony Elding and Bobby Grant left Spotland today.

Elding, 28, has joined his former club Stockport County on loan until the end of the season, whilst 20-year-old Grant was recalled by parent club Scunthorpe United.

Elding has been frustrated by a lack of first team opportunities, starting just nine of Dale’s 21 League One matches, and with the arrival of Liam Dickinson on loan from Barnsley he has had to look elsewhere for first team football.

On loan Grant, who has scored twice in five starts, was recalled by Scunthorpe United as Dale travelled to Saturday’s match at Dagenham and Redbridge, meaning the coach had to stop to let the striker off.

Dale boss Keith Hill has been busy adding to his squad in the past week.

On Saturday winger Nicky Adams made his loan move from Brentford permanent by putting pen to paper on a two and a half year deal.

Hill has also brought in Barnsley striker Dickinson and looks set to loan Will Atkinson from Hull, as well as retaining the services of Scunthorpe stopper Josh Lillis.

Earlier, midfielder Jason Kennedy, 24, signed a two-year extension to his contract, 22-year-old midfielder Matt Done added six months to his deal, and goalkeeper Matt Edwards agreed month-to-month extension terms with the club.

Rochdale’s match against Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road kicks off at 3pm tomorrow.
