Mayfield v Caddishead Rhino’s preview

Mayfield’s National Conference side have no fixture again this week so the NWC team take centre stage once more.

The visitors to the Mayfield Sports centre are fierce rivals Caddishead Rhino’s. After last weeks defeat at West Bank where a poor performance coupled with some poor discipline cost them dear, Mayfield are looking to get back to winning ways.

Caddishead however will be no pushovers, and will be looking to avenge an early season defeat at the hands of their hosts. After a slow start they have strung together some impressive results to consolidate a creditable second place in div 4.

Ashworth is in no mood to taste defeat for a second week and has put his side through the mill at training on Tuesday and Thursday, he said: “The lads were bitterly disappointed with last weeks showing and are determined to make it right by beating Caddishead, we beat them at home and we can beat them here but we need to return to the basics that served us well up until last week.

“Everybody played well at West Bank but we all played as individuals we’ve talked it through and we are all aware what we need to do to lift the points, our forwards have seldom been bettered this season and they will be laying the platform for the game and hopefully the backs will capitalise on this and score the tries.”
