Rochdale Premier Cricket League – week 7 round up

Top three teams (Unique, Amazing 8, and Paradise Stars) are in action again this week to retain their top spot in the league. Unique took 3 points from their game and claim the top spot. A bit of a blunder from RYCC gave away 2 points to Amazing 8 despite winning the match convincingly.

First match of the day was between RYCC and Amazing 8. RYCC batted first and made the highest total of the league 169 runs in their 8 overs. An excellent batting from M. Siddique 41 runs (not out), and Guffran 31 runs (not out). Amazing 8’s bowlers unable to control extras and gave away 56 runs. In response they managed to score 109 runs and lost the match with 59 runs. But RYCC played with 9 players as 8th player batted and 9th player bowled. Due to this mistake they end up giving away 2 points to Amazing 8.

Second match was won by Rochdalians against Bury Panthers by 36 runs. Rochdalians batted first and scored 144 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Imarn2 34 runs (not out) and Imran 21 runs. In response Bury Panthers bowled out for 109 runs and lost the match. Good bowling from Faisal taking 2 wickets for 8 runs, Hameed 2 wickets for 17 runs and Atif 2 wickets for 17 runs. This win moved them out of bottom half of the league table.

Next match was between Speed Stars and Rochdale Lions. Speed Stars batted first and made 79 runs. Apart from Rauf 21 runs and Wasim 17 runs none of the other batsmen contributed much towards the total. Good bowling by Shakeel taking 2 wickets for 4 runs and Zohaib 2 wikcets for 14 runs. Good batting from Shah Brothers, Shohaib 29 runs (not out) and Zohaib 18 runs got Rochdale Lions home safely. With this win they moved to the top half of the league table.

A good win for Paradise Stars against 8 Lions needed 5 runs on the last bowl and Kamran hit the 6 and won the match for Paradise Stars. 8 Lions set a target of 112 runs for Paradise Stars to win the match. In response Paradise Stars lost their key players very cheaply. But Shahid 30 runs (not out) and Kamran 24 runs won the match for their team.

Another win for 8 Stars this week against Thornham CC. Batting first 8 Stars made 144 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Tariq 30 runs (not out), Waleed 25 runs and Irfan 21 runs (not out). Good opening partnership between James 33 runs (not out) and Danny 34 runs (not out). Apart from Tom Grey 17 runs none of the other batsmen made any contribution and lost the match by 11 runs.

Easy win for Unique against young team Max 11. Unique batted first and scored 145 runs. Good batting from Mo 32 runs (not out) and Iqbal 28 runs. In response Max 11 all bowled out for 90 runs and lost the match by 55 runs. An excellent bowling from Sohail, taking 3 wickets for 14 runs and afaridi, 3 wicket for 16 runs.

Last match of the day was between Lahore Rangers and Punjab. Punjab batted first and made 95 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Uzair 30 runs (not out) and Basit 16 runs (not out). Again good response from Lahore Rangers and won the match by 5 wickets and 3 overs to spare. Good batting from Umar 30 runs (not out) and Numan 29 runs.

Abdul Quyyom and M Siddique appreciated and thanked all the volunteers particularly Tayab, Wasim, Haji Shakeel, Sakib and Ali Shah for helping with umpiring and scoring duties.
