Mayfield preview
Date published: 09 December 2010
With a thaw forecast for the back end of the week there is a chance that both the Mayfield teams will be in action on Saturday (11 December 2010). The firsts have a game scheduled at Milford Marlins of Leeds, while the NWC side are also on the road, making the journey to Widnes where they face West Bank Swans.
Milford claimed the spoils in the first game of the season back in September when they out enthused a lack lustre home side at the Mayfield Sports Centre. The Milford scrum half was Mayfield’s undoing on the day, when he used a tactical kicking game to perfection and Mayfield had no answer.
Saturday’s game should be equally as tough but the Rochdale side have improved immensely since that day and will be well aware of what needs to be done to reverse the result. With a handful of new signings since that first game Mayfield and coach Butterworth are chomping at the bit to return to action and claim the points that would see them pushing for the third spot. The coach will be leaving at 12.00 players meet as per pre match text.
The NWC lads will also be looking to reverse the defeat they suffered at the hands of their hosts West Bank Swans who triumphed at Mayfield earlier in the season. West bank came with a young enthusiastic side and managed to pull off a victory over the home team. Since that defeat Ashworth has managed to get together a settled side with youth and experience blended together to form a team who are now in second place in the division and are proving difficult to beat at the moment. The coach will be leaving at 12.15 players meet as per pre match text.
