Mayfield preview

Mayfield face Eccles tomorrow (Saturday 13 November) at the Mayfield Sports Centre hoping to extend their current winning run to four games.

The visitors currently occupy the next to the bottom spot in division four but have recently put in some good performances and have been unlucky not to pick up more points.

They come into tomorrow’s game on the back of a creditable showing against unbeaten league leaders Hindley last week, so they will be no pushovers as they look to start climbing out of the relegation zone.

With that in mind coach Ashworth will be selecting his strongest side from the players available.

After a good performance in last week’s victory over New Springs he will be hoping for more of the same today.

“The lads showed great spirit when New Springs staged a come back in the game and we picked up the intensity to seal a good win,” said Ashworth. “Lads are now fighting for their places, which is always a good position to be in. Our forwards are again starting to take control of games and the backs are capitalising on this to score the points and win us games.”

Players are reminded that kick offs are now 2.00 for the remainder of the season. All players meet at the club as per pre match text.
