Rochdale manager Keith Hill has completed the signing of striker Rene Howe from League Two rivals Peterborough on a season-long loan. With just one goal to his name this season, Howe has not been a regular feature for promotion-chasing Peterborough this season and his opportunities have been limited.
Howe cannot wait to get started with Dale who, despite defeat at home to Lincoln last weekend, lie just outside the play-off zone.
Commenting on the move Howe said: "Peterborough have got some real quality strikers who have been scoring goals and doing the business so I have been left to wait for an opportunity that didnt really come so I am very happy to be here until the end of the season. Hopefully I can do well and score the goals that helps the team get promoted.
"I understand that the manager was interested in me in the summer and it is flattering to be wanted but if I am honest I don't know too much about Rochdale having lived and played down south all my life. All the people that I have spoken to have all said that Rochdale is a good club and I trust their judgement.
"As a player I try to bring people into the game and have quite a bit of pace and strength so I might add a different dimension to what is here already. I see myself as both a target man and a goalscorer, being able to hold the ball up and find the net. As I say the forwards at Peterborough were all doing the business so I can't complain about not having too many chances there but I am really looking forward to getting my head down and having a run in the side here.
"I understand that the first game is at Wycombe and is a pretty massive.I played against them for Peterborough and we won 2-1. I know what their strengths and weaknesses are and a repeat of that would give me nice start."
