Table topping Norden decimated the Royton batting to inflict a humiliating defeat on Royton, who managed just 46 runs in 16 overs before being bowled out – thought to be one of the lowest scores ever recorded in the Central Lancashire Cricket League.

Norden took to the crease first, and from the spectators viewpoint perhaps a good job otherwise the match would have been over not longer after it started, and hit a creditable 184 all out in 48 of their allotted 50 overs on what was undoubtedly a helpful wicket for bowlers.

Royton started badly losing three wickets for 33 runs in the first five overs and it didn’t get better as the Norden bowlers picked off the Royton middle and lower order with consummate ease.

Norden remain top of the table in front of Rochdale; Royton languish at the lower end of the table.
