Cars damaged at Rochdale game
Date published: 09 August 2010
At least three cars were vandalised during Saturday’s (7 August 2010) home game against Hartlepool, according to eyewitnesses.
Posts on the Rochdale AFC 'Fans Forum' say that vehicles parked on Longfield Road had had their wing mirrors broke and ‘Dale’ had been scratched across their bonnets.
A forum user posted the following: “Commiserations to all those who parked on Longfield Road today to return to their cars and discover their wing mirrors broken off and or "DALE" scratched across their bonnets.
“I say to "all those" as I don't know if any Hartlepool fans were victims of this, but there were certainly three Rochdale fans cars targeted for such mindless vandalism.”
The poster concluded: “Gormless, idiotic, imbecilic, stupid, pointless, you name it, there's a thousand other words to describe the perpetrators.”
Another forum user added: “Just the reputation we want!”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said they had not received any complaint of criminal damage on Longfield Road on Saturday.
A spokesperson for Rochdale AFC said they knew nothing about the damage.
