Norden CC v Radcliffe CC
Date published: 01 August 2010
Norden picked up five points from their Lake Garage Central Lancashire League match against Radcliffe despite failing to bowl out their opponents.
Radcliffe didn't bowl their 50 overs in the time allowed, had two overs deducted from their innings, and under league rules this opened up the way for a Norden five-pointer.
Norden hammered a total of 279 for nine after a bright start in which Michael Price scored 47, Josh Poole 39, Nick Brierley 65 and Harvey Fitton 42.
The runs from Poole took the New Zealander past the 500 mark for the season.
Wickets then fell rapidly in a late run chase.
Radcliffe didn't look to be in with a shout, but Muntaza blasted seven big sixes as the visitors reached 144 for two in quick time before the rain came.
When play resumed at 8.15pm the Radcliffe innings had been reduced, and it meant they had to score 94 in 10 overs.
With Muntaza slamming everything out of sight it was still possible, but Price and Chris Humphreys bowled tightly, fielders restricted Radcliffe to singles, and when Muntaza went for 88, caught on the boundary by Ollie Makin, it was effectively game over.
Three more wickets fell in the gloom before; with just over three overs left, and Radcliffe on 186 for 6, the umpires decided the light had become too dangerous to continue.
On revised run rate Norden won by 39 runs.
A day later Norden reached the semi-finals of the CLL JW Lees Twenty20. They bowled Oldham out for 116 at The Pollards before Michael Price hit an unbeaten half century to complete an eight-wickets win for The Stags.
