Bamford-Fieldhouse U15s – 70-9 - Shaw A 74-2 (Away)

Date published: 27 July 2010

On a murky night, Shaw A showed why they are unbeaten with a confident all-round performance against Bamford. Their mainly seam attack bowled with pace and accuracy and although unable to take all 10 wickets, they kept the run rate below 3.5 an over which was never going to be enough.

Top scorers were Callum Openshaw and Sam Halligan who both got 13, the former with good ground strokes, the latter with some aggressive hitting. Mitchell returned the best figures for Shaw with 3-1-9-2 and their fielding was also excellent, taking four catches and one run out.

Ahmed Nawaz and Joe Smith-Butler opened the Bamford bowling and although not quite as quick as the home side, were just as accurate. After Openshaw caught Hughes off Smith-Butler, Temple and Burgoyne kept the scoreboard moving with well run singles and hard hit 4s leading to a fifty partnership.

A superb first ball by Matt Buckley removed Temple for 27 but Shaw won the game by 8 wickets in the thirteenth over with Burgoyne not out on 34.
