Remember its Hornets Scrum Down Challenge on Friday!
With the period when we have to play away from home for 6 weeks fast approaching its vital Hornets supporters and their friends help the club by supporting the various fundraising events we put on.
So please make a note in your diary for:
This Friday 21 May Hornets RL will be hosting a Scrum Down Challenge in the Ratcliffe Arms. You've seen "Question of Sport" and "They Think it's all over". Well come and experience the Hornets version.
Hosted by City Talk FM 105.9 Steve Manning we've teamed up with Alpha Photography and The Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre to create what should be a night to remember.
Players v Stankevitch Select v WAGS v Players. This contest of RL and sporting knowledge should prove to be lively and entertaining. Stanky and the whole team will be in action in more ways than one. Even the girls are "game for a laugh".
The evening will start at 7.30pm with a general/sporting quiz for teams up to 5 (but we're not counting) with a prize fund of £50. That's just to get the room ready for action. When the boys arrive from training there'll be food, raffles and auctions and then it's "let battle commence".
In support of your players 40% off all proceeds from this event will be donated to the Players Injury Fund.
Tickets cost £5 and can be ordered from the club office or pay on the night.
Your attendance and participation will help both club and players so book 21 May in your diary and bring along as many friends as possible.
Hornets v York City Knights
This Sunday we are at home against our rivals, the York City Knights. This fixture is important in our attempts to secure a play-off place. With Hornets currently in 4th position we face the team directly below us, both sides on 17 points. Victory on Sunday could see us pull away from the chasing pack. The lads need all our support to cheer them home against a team who have taken the points off Hornets twice already this season.
Make Hornets v York extra special!
A pre-match meal is available to supporters on Sunday 23 May before the York City Knights match. This exclusive package includes:
- Two course buffet-style meal
- Welcome and pre-match analysis from John Stankevitch, head coach
- Free prize draw
- Stand-up bingo
- Pre-match raffle
- Post-match player visits
- Post-match analysis from John Stankevitch
The cost of hospitality is £22 including a match ticket, and £10 for Season Ticket holders. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. To book your place please contact the office on 01706 648004 or email nicola.webster@hornetsrugbyleague.com

Northern Rail 9`s Tickets now available
Those people who attended the Northern Rail 9`s last year will tell you what a great event it was. Tickets are now on sale for the Northern Rail 9's competition, which is to be held at Fylde RFC on Saturday 17 July 2010.
The tournament returns to Blackpool for its second year.
This exciting 9's competition will feature all 18 English Co-operative Championship and Championship 1 clubs that are not participating in the Northern Rail Cup Final. This year the tournament will be decided on one thrill-packed day.
Clubs will be split into 5 pools (three pools of four and two pools of three) for the initial group stages. Once the finalists of the Northern Rail Cup are known the remaining 18 clubs will go into an open draw to determine which pool they are in for the group stages of the tournament. Clubs in pools one to three will play the other clubs in their pool once. Clubs in pools four and five will play each club from the other pool once.
All results and points will be collated in a league table and at the end of the group stages the top four teams will progress onto the semi finals stage.
The first semi final will be between teams finishing 1st and 4th in the leader board, with 2nd and 3rd placed teams competing in the second semi final. The winners of each semi final will progress to the final.
Tickets to the Northern Rail 9s are available now from the Hornets office priced at just £9 for adults and £5 for concessions. Plus if you purchase a ticket to the 9s you can get £5 off a ticket to the Northern Rail Cup Final.
