Heyside 86-4 - Bamford-Fieldhouse U13s 87-2 (Home)
After a close league match two weeks ago, a difficult cup tie was expected, but with home advantage, Bamford's bowling was much improved and they restricted Heyside to 86 for 4.
The visitors elected bat and made a good start against some pacy opening bowling from Joe Smith-Butler and Callum Belfield. Thouey and Price put on 35 before Smith-Butler had Thouey caught behind by Ben Garside. Price then increased the pace and was well supported by Darlington before retiring on 31. Heyside's innings then lost its impetus due to accurate spells from Adam Ahmed, Connor Wright and Humza Mughal who ended up with 2 for 6.
Bamford’s in-form openers Smith-Butler and Alex Willis both passed 100 runs for the season before retiring on 32 and 30 respectively before the dependable Danny Matthews and Belfield sealed an eight wicket victory for the home side.
The Bamford team are looking very strong with 4 wins from 4 and confidence in the squad is high and their coach praised both sides for the sporting manner in which the game was played.
Bamford-Fieldhouse U15s 115-4 - Glodwick 81-6 (Home)
On a beautiful evening for cricket, Bamford won the toss and decided to bat. The decision was vindicated with the openers making a great start against some accurate bowling, particularly from JJ Rigby. The stand was eventually broken for 51 in the 11th over when Lohdi bowled Matt Buckley for 20. Eight runs later, Joe Smith-Butler top edged Zaheer for 33.
With the innings losing momentum, Callum Openshaw upped the pace and with Ibbi Alam put on a partnership of 39. Both players ran superbly between the wickets, turning singles into twos and twos into threes to push the rate back up and at the end of the innings, Openshaw was unbeaten on 30.
Glodwick made a steady start until Mirza was bowled by Smith-Butler. Whilst Rigby looked strong in defence, runs were hard to come by and he lost partners in pairs, with Smith-Butler picking up two and Abbu Alam getting two in two balls. Rigby was eventually run out for 19 at the bowlers end by a direct hit from keeper Openshaw. With the game looking all over, Arkan and McKeown then put on a stubborn 22 to see the innings to a close.
This was a good 34 run win for Bamford against a hard working Glodwick side but they must try to cut down on the extras which were Glodwick’s top scorer with 23.
