The Sun goes down on Castleton!

Sun Hotel 4 – 1 Castleton
C Potts Cup Final

Sun Hotel proved far too strong for Castleton in the C Potts Final at Castleton Sport Centre. In a one-sided game, Sun put four past Castleton with just one reply.

The game started well for Castleton and they opened the scoring after just 17 minutes through David Milne, but from thereon it was all Sun, who equalised just five minutes later with a goal from Andrew White.

Midway through the first half, under intense pressure the Castleton defence buckled and conceded a penalty; up stepped Darren Dunn whose kick sent McDermott in the Castleton goal the wrong way.

Sun went three one up before half time, White getting his second of the game.

Ten minutes into the second half Sam Lee thought he had scored Sun’s fourth only for the assistant referee to erroneously flag for offside – White was well onside when he received the ball.

It was all one way traffic by now and the game was played out in the Castleton half. It was inevitable that the Castleton defence would not be able to withstand the pressure; with poetic justice Sam Lee got the goal he deserved to put the game beyond any doubt.
