Ernie Cooksey Memorial Golf Day

Rochdale Supporters Trust is supporting Factor 50 to fund a very promising trial treatment in malignant melanoma, the illness that sadly recently robbed the footballing world of characters like Ernie Cooksey and Celtics Tommy Burns.

Factor 50 is an Oldham based research fund for the malignant melanoma research team at The Christie cancer centre in Manchester.

Rochdale Supporters Trust felt they wanted to do something to try and help make a difference to people suffering from the illness. Offering their help to Factor 50 they started fundraising for them last year. This year it was decided to have a Golf Day which will become an annual event. Ernie’s family are delighted that this event is taking place in Ernie’s memory and have given their blessing to the day.

The inaugural Ernie Cooksey Memorial Golf Day is being held at Manchester Golf Club, Hopwood in Middleton on Friday July 2nd 2010. The competition is a Stableford and entry is £260 per team of 4. The day consists of a light lunch and coffee on arrival followed by 18 holes of afternoon golf on this superb course. After the competition there will be an evening dinner which will encompass the opportunity to bid for some fabulous sporting memorabilia and a chance to watch the world cup quarter final on a screen in the function suite.

There will be a winners trophy, with individual trophies for all prize winners to take away. This event is kindly supported by GeeDee Trophies in Shaw who have supplied all trophies free of charge.

Entry forms and further details can be obtained by calling Andy Worthington on 07977 921085 or mailing andyworthington.factor50@googlemail.com
