Rochdale Premier Cricket League Round Up

The competition is really heating up at the top, good wins for RYCC over Stoney Stars and Max XI over Unique. RYCC retain top spot in the league table with 22 points and Max XI stay in second place with 20 points.

First match of the day was between All Stars and Rochdalians. All Stars won the toss and elected to bat but they had a disastrous start, losing both of their openers in the first over. A solid partnership between Bukari 30 runs (not out) and Asif 28 gave them hope to post a respectable total. Good bowling from Rochdalians bowlers, Benaris with 3 wickets for 20 runs and Malik with 1 wicket for 7 runs restricted All Stars to 96 runs. Rochdalians responded well with all of their batsmen contributing, Faisal 16 runs, Malik 13 runs and Umar 12 runs. Rochdalians won the match with 10 balls to spare. Benaris was declared man of the match for his good bowling (3 wickets for 20 runs).

The second match of the day was between RYCC and Stoney Stars. It was a crucial match for both teams, RYCC to keep their top spot and Stoney Stars to move up to second place. Stoney Stars won the toss and elected to bat but they did not have a good start, losing their first batman with 1 run on the scoreboard. An excellent partnership between Rauf with 16 runs and Saif with 40 runs (not out) but none of the other batsmen survived against a very good bowling attack of RYCC. Stoney Stars only managed to score 80 runs. There was a confident response from RYCC, they only lost two wickets and won the match by 6 wickets and 2 overs to spare. Shakeel scored 25 runs, Quyyom scored 25 runs (not out) and Siddique scored 15 runs (not out). Ali was given man of the match award for his excellent bowling, taking 1 wicket for 6 runs.

The match Unique and Max XI was another exciting one and a must win game for Max XI to keep the second spot. Unique won the toss and elected to bat. A very good start from their openers Afridi with 33 runs (not out), and Gufran with 4 runs was added to by Asif with 14 runs and Munawar with 13 runs. Unique managed to score 117 runs, including 42 extras given by Max XI’s bowlers. Another good start By Max XI, all their batmen scoring runs, Aqeel scored 30 runs (not out), Shohib scored 21 runs (not out), Rashid scored 13runs and Amir scored 8 runs. Thanks to a very good partnership between Aqeel and Shohib, Max XI won the match by 1 wicket. Aqeel was named man of the match for his 1 wicket for only 6 runs and scoring 30 runs (not out). With this win Max XI kept second spot in the table with 20 points.

The final match of the day was played between Lahore Greens and Baba XI. Baba XI won the toss and invited Lahore Greens to bat. Lahore Greens made a bad start, losing both of their openers with just 12 runs on the scoreboard. Only two of their batsmen got into double figures; Asif scored 14 runs and Zaheer scored 11 runs. Excellent bowling from Jangir, Iftikhar and Dastghir restricted Lahore Greens to 61 runs. Baba XI won the match by 4 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Good batting from Dastghir with 20 runs (not out) and Shakeel with 11 runs (not out). Dastghir was given man of the match for his 20 runs and 1 wicket for 3 runs.
