Rochdale Premier Cricket League Round Up

Max XI inflicted another defeat of the league on Stoney Stars and RYCC kept their wining momentum going. A good win for Rochdalians moved them out of bottom half of the league table.

First match of the day was between Unique and Rochdalians. It was must win game for both of the teams, Unique to keep their 3rd place and Rochdalians to move up from the bottom half of the table. Unique won the toss and elected to bat. Not a good start from Unique only three of their batsmen got into double figures and lost wickets in regular intervals. Asif made 16 runs, Sohail 14 runs and Munawar 19 runs. Good bowling attack from Rochdalians bowlers. Unique managed to score 85 runs. An Excellent response from Rochdalians, won the match by 7 wickets and an over to spare. Faisal scored 27 runs, Hameed 25 runs (not out) and Khan 21 runs (not out). Faisal was man of the match for his 27 runs and 2 wickets for 16 runs.

2nd match of the day was between Stoney Stars and Max XI. Stoney Stars won the toss and elected to bat. Not a good start from Stoney Stars, loosing both of their openers in first over. Wasim 18 runs and Saif 13 runs steady the ship and later joined by Shakir 24 runs (not out). Stoney Stars made 88 runs. Good disciplined bowling from Max XI’s bowlers. Disastrous start from Max XI, losing their opener on very first ball of the inning but poor bowling from Stoney Stars bowlers gave away 52 runs in next 2 overs. Good batting from Zohaib 30 runs (not out) and Rehman 15 runs won the match for Max XI by 3 wickets and 1 over to spare. Zohaib of Max XI was declared man of the match.

Next match was between RYCC and Lahore Greens. Lahore Greens won the toss and elected to bat. Not a good start for Lahore Greens losing their opener on the third ball of the match. Only three of their batsmen got into double figures against very good bowling attack of RYCC. Zafar 21 runs, Amjad 14 runs and Fiaz 11 runs. Lahore Greens managed to score 81 runs. Good opening partnership between Iqbal 31 runs (not out), Shakeel 13 runs gave RYCC an excellent start and than consolidated by the middle order batsmen to win the match by 4 wickets and 2 overs to spare. Lahore Greens gave away 22 runs in extras. Iqbal of RYCC was declared man of the match for his 31 runs. With this win RYCC and Max XI are at the top of the league with 18 points.

Last match of the day was played between All Stars and Baba XI. All Stars won the toss and elected to bat first. Another bad start from All Stars losing both of their openers in the first over with 4 runs on the scoreboard. A good partnership between Imran 30 runs (not out) and Asif 23 runs gave them hope of making a respectable total. All Stars made 96 runs in their 8 overs. An Excellent start from Baba XI all of their batsmen scoring runs Dastaghir 31 runs (not out) Wajid 28 runs (not out) and Tayyab 9 runs. Baba XI won the match by 4 wickets and 1 over to spare. Wajid of Baba XI was given man of the match award for his 28 runs (not out).
