Dale keeping tabs on non-league striker

Date published: 18 January 2010

Rochdale are believed to be keeping tabs on Lancaster City striker Jordan Connerton.

The 20-year old forward has hit 29 goals so far this season for promotion chasing Lancaster and it has been reported that Rochdale youth coach Tony Ellis was at the Giant Axe ground at the weekend to see the youngster score in a 4-1 win over Salford City.

The striker is seeking a move into professional football but also has a chance to break Lancaster's all-time goalscoring record of 36 if he stays with them for the rest of the season.

Connerton's goals have helped put Lancaster six points clear at the top of the Unibond First Division North.

Rochdale's fellow league two sides Morecambe and Crewe Alexandra are also believed to be interested in the striker, as are Scottish outfit Motherwell.
