Dale remain five points clear

Rochdale remain five points clear at the top of League Two despite not playing this weekend.

Dale's home game against Port Vale was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, giving second place Bournemouth a chance to a close the gap if they could win their game at home against Bury.

Rochdale's local rivals did them a favour by winning 2-1 on the south coast, a result which kept Keith Hill's men five points ahead of Bournemouth with a game in hand on the second placed side.

Dale are 12 twelve points clear of fourth placed Rotherham, although the Millers have three games in hand on the league leaders.

Meanwhile officials at Aldershot are very confident that tomorrow night's game against Dale will go ahead. At the time of writing reports from the EBB Stadium suggest that their pitch is now clear of snow and perfectly playable thanks to the efforts of a group of volunteer supporters.

The Port Vale game which should have been played on Saturday will now take place on Tuesday 26 January, kick off 7.45pm.
