Gateshead eye Dale duo

Date published: 04 January 2010

Non-league Gateshead have targeted Rochdale duo Adam Rundle and Jon Shaw as potential signings during the January transfer window.

Shaw will be allowed to leave Spotland on a free transfer and the Tyneside club have offered him a one-and-a-half year contract.

They have also shown an interest in winger Rundle, who was born in the North East. Rundle recently spent a month on loan at Rotherham having been left out of the Rochdale starting eleven for a number of weeks, but he came on during Dale's last game against Morecambe.

The 25-year old has played more than 100 games for Rochdale during his three-and-a-half year stay at Spotland but a desire for first team football may see him move on in January.

Reports suggest that Motherwell had been keeping on eye on the winger before Jim Gannon was sacked as their manager, while Luton Town are also thought to be interested.
