Rotherham game off

Rochdale's game against Rotherham United, scheduled for 3pm this afternoon, has been called off.

Temperatures dropped several degrees below freezing last night and with a layer of snow covering the pitch the groundsman was unable to prepare the playing surface for the game.

This morning's snow also raised safety concerns in and around the ground.

The groundsman and supporters have put in a collective Herculean effort to get Dale's last two home games on but nothing could be done to save this one given the overnight frost and morning snowfall.

Dale are next in action away at Aldershot next Saturday (9 January, 3pm).
