Dale seek volunteers to clear pitch

Volunteers are asked to clear snow from the Spotland pitch tomorrow morning.

Rochdale Football Club has put the call out for volunteers to clear snow from the Spotland pitch in the hope of getting tomorrow's game against Shrewsbury on.

Officials at the club say that beneath the layer of snow and under the pitch covers, the surface is currently playable. But with temperatures set to drop well below freezing overnight, the groundsman wants to leave the snow on the pitch until the morning in the hope that it acts as further insulation for the playing surface.

Volunteers are asked to be at the main office at Spotland from 8am tomorrow morning and to bring snow shovels and/or wheelbarrows if they have them available.
