Chadderton 1 Rochdale Town 0
Date published: 14 December 2009
Rochdale Town missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Vodkat North-West Counties First Division Trophy after a 1–0 defeat to Chadderton.
The Broadway outfit dominated from start to finish, but were guilty of missing several clear-cut chances.
Danny Bell blazed over when clear, Danny Shaw fired wide, Chris Pauley hit the side-netting and Martin Love shot straight at the ’keeper as Chadderton ran the Rochdale backline ragged.
But Love made no mistake in the 70th minute when he headed home Pauley’s cross from the left.
Chadderton ’keeper Lee Swanson was rarely troubled by the division’s basement team, but on the one occasion he was called into action he turned the ball away after a shot came in from the edge of the penalty area.
Chadderton will face Daisy Hill or AFC Blackpool in the last eight.
