Rochdale 1 Moss Park seconds 1
Date published: 25 November 2009
At the start of the match Rochdale Ladies Hockey Club were lying in third place in the third division, their opponents for the day were Moss Park 2's who were only one place higher in the league.
The match began with Rochdale having more possession and the better chances but they could not convert their dominance into goals and they went a goal behind against the run of play. Moss Park turned defence into attack and with only three touches the ball was in the back of the Rochdale net.
After a good team talk at half time Rochdale came out a different team and it was only going to be a matter of time before they found themselves level. The goal came from a good run down the right hand side by Ashley Hoyle, this was followed up by a fantastic ball into the area and it was met by Paula McDonald who was waiting on the back post to slam the ball into the back of the net.
Rochdale were unlucky not to take all the points as the second half saw them create chance after chance.
Gill Knowles had a great game earning herself player of the match.
Sunday was Divisional Cup day, seven teams took part, all playing each other for ten minute matches. Rochdale had a good tournament winning two, drawing four and losing the last match by one goal; it was this one goal that made them lose out on the cup finishing in second place.
