Rochdale Premier Cricket League round-up

It was an exiting second week of the Rochdale Premier Cricket League with all the teams in action.
The first game was between Unique and All Star. Batting first All Star made 152 helped by excellent batting performances from Abdul (31 runs not out), Imran (31 runs not out) and late hitting by Amir (30 runs not out). Batting second Unique could only score 122 and lost the match by 30 runs. Imran was declared man of the match.
The second game was between Baba XI and Lahore Greens, a very closely contested match won by Baba XI by 5 runs. Shakeel was man of the match scoring 42 runs and taking 1 wicket.
In the league’s other matches Max XI won against Young Muslims very comfortably. RYCC won their match against Suli XI with 8 wickets and 4 overs remaining.
The final match of the day was between Rochdalians and Stoney Stars. Batting first Stoney Star made 134 runs. Saif made 33 runs (not out), Wasim 31 runs (not out) and Sajid 15 runs. Rochdalians could only score 115 and lost the match by 19 runs. Wasim was declared man of the match.
The League completed its third week of action this weekend and RYCC and All Stars are competing for top spot. Both of the teams were on 4 points after wining both of their opening games. Six of the other teams were on 2 points each while Suli XI and Young Muslims had not won any games.
This week the opening match was played between Stoney Stars and Baba XI. It was a one sided match in which Stoney Stars batted first and made 138 with the loss of 4 wickets, with very good batting performances from Rauf 31 runs (not out) and Wasim 34 runs (not out). In response to Stoney Stars innings Baba XI could only score 97 runs all out and lost the match by 41 runs. Wasim was given the man of the match medal.
The second match of the day was between Suli XI and Max XI. It was again a one sided match and Max XI won by 120 runs with good displays of batting by Shoaib 30 runs (not out), Zubair 35 runs (not out) and Zohaib 24 runs. Shoaib won the man of the match medal.
The third game was due to be played between Young Muslims and Unique but Young Muslims failed to turn up and Unique were awarded the match and two points.
Lahore Greens beat All Star by 6 wickets and an over to spare with good batting by Naveed 20 runs, Shakeel 30 runs (not out) and Tariq 19 runs (not out). Shakeel was given the man of the match medal.
The fifth game was between Rochdalians vs RYCC and a clash between youth and experience. Rochdalians won the toss and invited RYCC to bat first. From RYCC batting was open by their most experienced players Abdul Quyyom and Iqbal. Both scoring 30 and 31 runs (not out) respectively, paving the way for good late hitting by Siddique 17 runs and Naeem 15 runs (not out) to reach a total of 143 runs. Rochdalains could only score 112 runs and lost the match by 31 runs. Some good batting from Khan 36 runs, Usman 15 runs and Mazzur 22 runs. Abdul Quyyom was given the man of the match medal.
