Middleton’s budding footballers can now kick start their careers on a brand new artificial turf sports pitch at Cardinal Langley RC High School.

Half a million pounds has been invested in providing students and the wider community with a world class, floodlit facility with a special 3G pitch.

Professional and amateur clubs/teams including Oldham Athletic FC, Middleton Colts FC, Middleton Athletics Ladies FC, Mayfield Rugby Club, Manchester North End FC, Chaddy End FC, Middleton Boys FC, Abacus Media FC, have already been putting the pitch to the test.

Jim Dobbin, Member of Parliament for Middleton and Heywood, officially opened the facility.

Headteacher Colin Mason at Cardinal Langley RC High School, said: “This pitch will be enormously beneficial to the school as it offers a world class surface on which students of all ages and abilities can develop their skills.

“As a Sports College, the school already enjoys excellent links with many locally based sports clubs who use the school’s facilities on evenings and weekends. This new facility increases the overall capacity so more that local sports teams have affordable access to first class facilities.”
