Rally pair tackle Britain's longest rally

Steve Warrington and Dave Pedley set out on the four day Roger Albert Clark rally
This weekend, local rally team of Steve Warrington and Dave Pedley set out on the four day Roger Albert Clark rally. Steve from Milnrow and Dave from Middleton will be using Pedley’s TR8 rally car to compete over the 27 stages of the event.
The rally, a revival of the original Rally GB, sees over 60 crews competing in historic rally cars driving day and night over some of the most famous rallying stages in the North.
From the start at Pickering, near York, on Friday night. The rally uses some of the Yorkshire forest stages, before returning to Pickering in the early hours of Saturday. After a couple of hours sleep, the crews then set out again from Pickering, via the Yorkshire Forests into Cumbria with an overnight halt in Carlisle, Sunday the they venture into Scotland and then on the Monday, competing on the long fast stages of the Kielder forests of North Humberland, before the finish at Carlisle.
Warrington and Pedley tackled this gruelling event 2 years ago in the same car, finishing as class winners despite battery problems on the last stage. Since then Warrington and Pedley have has competed in a historic rallies events in both Britain and Belgium in various historic cars.
"Despite the TR8 having the biggest engine in the event it has nowhere near the agility of the Escorts over the forest stages," said Pedley, "but what we loose in speed, we make up for in excitement and, noise," he joked.
Warrington and Pedley will be supported by fellow members of Knowldale Car club, who will act as their service crew - keeping running and the crew fed.
