Eccleshall 2 Rochdale Town 1

Date published: 22 September 2009

Rochdale Town's winless run continues following another defeat on Saturday.

Town surrendered a one goal advantage to lose to fellow Vodkat League Division One strugglers Eccleshall.

The visitor's took the lead in the tenth minute as Karl Taylor turned in Kerim Alan's excellent cross but Town could not maintain their bright start.

Five minutes later, and against the run of play, Eccleshall levelled as the Town defence stood static from a corner expecting a referee's whistle for a foul that never came. The ball came through to Alex Barnfather, who scored from a couple of yards out.

Into the second half, and the home side broke from a Town corner and Ryan Misziel grabbed the winner with a well taken chip over the advancing Mark Canning.

The prompted Town coach, and former Rochdale professional, Dean Stokes to leave the bench and make his Town debut. The visitors were boosted by their coach's introduction but Eccleshall held out for three valuable points.

League highflyers Stone Dominoes visit the Mayfield Sports Centre to face Town this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
