Norden seek CLL title
Date published: 11 September 2009
Monton and Weaste will be crowned Lake Garage CLL champions if they beat Heywood in their final fixture of the 2009 season on Sunday (13 September).
Should they slip up, Norden can pip them at the post with victory at home to Werneth.
Littleborough wind up their campaign with a visit to in-form Crompton, while Middleton travel to Royton and Rochdale entertain Oldham. Milnrow wrap up their season at home to Walsden.
Sunday (12.30pm): Crompton v Littleborough; Milnrow v Walsden; Monton and Weaste v Heywood; Norden v Werneth; Radcliffe v Ashton; Rochdale v Oldham; Royton v Middleton; Unsworth v Clifton.
All eyes are on second place in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
With two games to go, a cart-load of teams are in with a chance of finishing runners-up behind champions Bamford Fieldhouse.
Saddleworth are second-best at present, but could find themselves in mid-table by the time the credits roll on another season on Sunday night. It’s that close.
A top-five finish is worth a place in next year’s LCB Cup.
Tomorrow: Droylsden v Friarmere; Glodwick v Shaw; Greenfield v Bamford Fieldhouse; Moorside v Uppermill; Saddleworth v Austerlands; Stayley v Heyside. Open date: Hollinwood.
Sunday: Austerlands v Stayley; Bamford Fieldhouse v Moorside; Friarmere v Greenfield; Heyside v Glodwick; Hollinwood v Droylsden; Uppermill v Shaw. Open date: Saddleworth.
